Relax. Your Kid is at Camp Letts.

We realize that choosing a summer camp is a tremendous act of faith. As a parent, you’re concerned about your child’s safety, supervision and engagement. We share your concerns, but rest assured–they’re in good hands at Camp Letts.

As an accredited summer camp through the American Camp Association (ACA) and National YMCA Camp Standards, we make every endeavor to manage risks and assure camper safety. Camp Letts provides a remote, rustic location that is safe and secluded from the general public. Each year, we select caring and well-trained staff who then undergo 2 weeks of extensive training. All of our counselors are First Aid, AED and CPR certified, and our wellness staff are certified to administer medications. Program instructors are certified in their specific areas including: Maryland Safe Boating Certified, American Red Cross Lifeguard, Anne Arundel County Pool Operators, Certified Horsemanship Association (CHA), the Adventure Network and USA Archery.

Insect Prevention

We care deeply about safety and comfort during and after your child’s visit to camp. In response to the rising nuisance known as Bed Bugs, we wanted you to know the steps Camp Letts is taking to safeguard your camper’s experience. We have implemented a very proactive insect prevention process by investing in state-of-the-art resources and regular treatments. Each residential building undergoes a regularly scheduled and rigorous inspection combined with heat treatments and environmentally-safe chemical treatments. As bed bugs are killed by extreme heat or cold, we regularly rotate superheating the cabins to 150-170 degrees for five hours at a time. The combination of chemical and heat treatments creates a very comprehensive and aggressive prevention system. One thing parents can do to help is to place all belongings, including sleeping bags and bedding that your child will bring to camp, in the clothes dryer for 40 minutes on high heat.
