Looking Back on Summer 2014

The end of summer camp means 10 long months of anticipation… especially considering the amazing summer we just had! With an unbelievably (and refreshingly) mild summer, camp was extra special – with sweatshirts in August and all!

CLSummer 2014 can only be characterized by caring and attentive counselors, and inspiring campers learning and trying new things every day! We welcomed 155 Day Campers to our Thursday night sleepovers, where they could got an appealing taste of overnight camp. Our water skiing, wake boarding and horsemasters programs were full all summer long – making for lots of movement at Camp Letts. The Color Wars were fantastic, and we want to give a special congratulations to the Blue Team on their win! We also had a new Chef, who brought healthy, tasty and energizing food to our campers.

Enrollment was up by 40%, which has our hopes high for next year. Our staff will be enhancing camp and program areas over the winter to make 2015 even better!

One inspiring moment I’d like to share comes from a 6 year old girl who joined us for two weeks from Annapolis Light House, a nearby homeless shelter. Once she arrived, the girl was quick to share that she could not swim and would not go in the pool. Our staff went to work! We enrolled her in our Swim Safety program, and by the end of her stay, she was swimming up to the lifeguard humming a familiar Jaws tune: “Dum, dum, dum, dum SHARK ATTACK!! But I am a bay shark because I don’t have any front teeth,” she shared.

Thank you, parents and kids, for sharing this and many more inspiring moments with us. We can’t wait to see you for Summer 2015!!
