What is the 13th Annual Turkey Chase?

Camp Letts Turkey Chase, held each year on Thanksgiving morning, is our largest attended event every year! Turkey Chase proceeds go to assist many deserving and underpriviledged children through our Caring for Community program. Safety Reminder Insurance restrictions do not allow headsets or in-line skates on the course. PETS ARE NOT PERMITTED ON CAMP LETTS PROPERTY.

Do we need to register in advance?

We prefer for you to register before the event, this helps us to ensure a smooth and quicker check-in process for the morning of the event as well almost guarantees you the t-shirt size you want. The 5k fun run/ walk is $25 if you register by November 4th ($35 thereafter) and the 10k race is $30 if you register by November 4th ($40 thereafter).

If you have participated in the last few years you should recieve a registration brochure in September you can either mail, fax or scan and email your registration. You can also download a registration form or register online through active.com (both listed above). No refunds will be provided. Your payment will be considered a donation. We reserve the right to cancel in extreme circumstances.

What does the course look like? Can we bring strollers? Can we bring pets?

The 10k Race begins on the Camp Letts dirt and gravel driveway and then though a trail onto SERC (Smithsonial Environmental Research Center) property next door, a brief patch around a field and then a short stint on Muddy Creek Road and back again. The 5k fun run/walk is the length of the dirt and gravel driveway and back. Both courses can be run with a stroller, preferably with the larger wheels made to run with to avoid any possible ruts in the road. Please NO PETS! They will not be allowed on the course or out on property!

Are there volunteer opportunities?

We definitely need volunteer help for this event. Students can also recieve volunteer hours for school! The morning of the race we need help with registration, on course directions, waterstops and general encouragement. Please contact Chessa Ormond at info@campletts.org with any questions. We would love to have all volunteer information recieved by November 10th to help us best prepare for the race.

What does the Camp Letts' Turkey Chase benefit?

Proceeds from the Annual Turkey Chase help send deserving kids to Camp. YMCA Camp Letts was founded in 1906 and is one of the oldest operating Resident Camps in the nation. We serve over 2,000 children each summer in our Traditional Day Camps, Equestrian Day Camps, Specialty Day Camps, One and Two-Week Overnight (Residential) Camps, Leaders in Training and Counselor in Training programs!

We believe that every child deserves an amazing summer camp experience! Turkey Chase is our largest fundraiser every year and helps to raise funds to support our programs, facilities and our scholarship program, Caring for Community, a program that enabled us to give scholarships to over 120 deserving families in 2011. Each year the need is even greater and we need your help!

This year the need is even greater and we need your help!
