Camp Letts offers the most unique, engaging and fun activities for your retreat! When you book your stay, our staff will assist in helping you plan the perfect activity schedule for your retreat. Whether you are looking for a day of team building or recreational activities for participants of all ages, Camp Letts can provide every experience.


Retreat Center Activities

Group Games

  • Description: Our group games, led by one of our enthusiastic instructors, are a great way to break the ice and get a team talking. Run, jump, and play your way through a variety of activities, all of which can be adapted to meet your group’s individual needs.
  • Cost: $150 for a 90 minute session

Team Development – Low Adventure

  • Description: Facilitated by our staff, the Team Development – Low Adventure course is designed to bring small groups together and work toward common goals to achieve different challenges. The course is designed to challenge each group physically and mentally.
  • Cost: $150 for a 90 minute session
  • Ages and Group Size: 2nd grade or older; maximum of 15 people per session

Team Development – High Adventure

  • Description: Led by our staff, the Team Development – High Adventure course is designed for pairs to work together to achieve a goal. Pairs will be challenged both mentally and physically as they climb 40 feet into the air.
  • Cost: $300 for a 90 minute session
  • Ages and Group Size: 6th grade and up; maximum of 16 people per session

High Ropes

  • Description: This adventurous course allows groups to explore trust and communication in a very different way. Guests will walk across steel cables, leap between platforms, and negotiate elements as they overcome fears and develop self-confidence. At 35 feet in the air this activity requires both physical and mental exertion.
  • Cost: $300 for a 90 minute session
  • Ages and Group Size: 6th grade and up; maximum of 16 people per session

Zip Line

  • Description: Climb 20 feet into the air and then soar down our 250 feet of zip line through our scenic woodlands. This is a great and exhilarating way to enjoy the natural beauty at camp.
  • Cost: $200 for a 90 minute session
  • Ages and Group Size: 2nd grade and up; maximum of 20 people per session

Archery

  • Description: Learn the basic skills of one of the world’s oldest sports! Our staff will help you develop your skills and you can then practice and improve your aim by shooting at targets with your bow and arrow.
  • Cost: $125 for a 90 minute session
  • Ages and Group Size: All ages; maximum of 20 people per session

Canoeing

  • Description: Share a boat with a few of your friends as you paddle along the Rhode River. Learn the basic strokes of canoeing as you navigate the waters surrounding Camp Letts.
  • Cost: $150 for a 90 minute session
  • Ages and Group Size: All ages. 4th grade and under should have 1 adult per canoe; maximum of 30 people total with a maximum of 4 people per canoe

Kayaking

  • Description: Sit back and relax as you paddle solo along the peaceful shoreline of the Rhode River. Enjoy the scenery and be sure to keep an eye out for bald eagles flying overhead.
  • Cost: $150 for a 90 minute session
  • Ages and Group Size: 4th grade and up; maximum of 20 people per session

Sea Sled

  • Description: For guests who have a need for speed, our inflatable sea sled is just what you’re looking for! Our sea sled is pulled behind a staff driven ski boat on the beautiful Rhode River. Riders should be prepared to get wet.
  • Cost: $300 for a 90 minute session
  • Ages and Group Size: All ages; maximum of 50 people per session

Paintball

  • Description: Under the supervision of our trained staff and located within the natural setting of Camp, our paintball course puts your teamwork and strategic thinking to the test. We provide the safety gear, equipment and paintballs. We recommend participants wear long sleeves, pants, and closed toe & heel shoes.
  • Cost: $30/person for a 90 minute session
  • Ages and Group Size: 6th grade and up; maximum of 25 people per session

Pool – Swimming

  • Description: Our 25-meter outdoor pool is open Memorial Day through Labor Day with certified lifeguards overseeing your safety.
  • Cost: $200 for a 90 minute session
  • Ages and Group Size: All ages; maximum of 75 people per session

Tie Dye

  • Description: Take home a handmade souvenir designed with your own creativity. Each participant will tie dye their own Camp Letts t-shirt, a perfect memento!
  • Cost: $10/person for a 90 minute session, cost includes 1 t-shirt per person
  • Ages and Group Size: All ages; maximum of 30 people per session

Orienteering

  • Description: Learn to use a compass to complete a Camp Letts orienteering adventure! Participants will learn orienteering basics, play games, and take to the woods to navigate an orienteering course.
  • Cost: $125 for a 90 minute session
  • Ages and Group Size: All ages; maximum of 30 people per session

Canoe Hike

  • Description: Guided by a naturalist, paddle your way through the Rhode River and into the creeks of Camp Letts. Learn about the Chesapeake Bay and how we can protect it for future generations. This program can be adapted to align with the Maryland Environmental Literacy Curriculum.
  • Cost: $350 for a 90 minute session
  • Ages and Group Size: 6th grade & up; maximum of 30 people total with a maximum of 4 people per canoe

Nature Hike

  • Description: With a naturalist to guide your way, explore the coastline and discover the plants, animals, and landscape of Camp Letts. This program can be adapted to meet the specific educational needs of your group.
  • Cost: $100 for a 90 minute session
  • Ages and Group Size: All ages; maximum of 20 people per session

Games with Horses

  • Description: Horses are social creatures, just like us, so make the horses at our Equestrian Center a part of your visit and come have some fun! Teams will groom and tack their horses for points, negotiate mazes and other obstacles, complete mounted and unmounted tasks and even experience bareback and bridleless riding.
  • Cost: $300 for a 60 minute session
  • Ages and Group Size: 2nd grade and older; maximum of 20 people per session – will be split into teams of 2-4 guests per horse

Equine Encounter

  • Description: Riding horses is fun but must be introduced safely in order to ensure connection, understanding, and positive experiences. Participants will learn about basic equine behavior and anatomy, basic leading, tack and its uses, and how to safely mount and dismount a horse.
  • Cost: $250 for a 60 minute session
  • Ages and Group Size: 2nd grade and up; minimum of 4 per session with a maximum of 6 per session

Fishing & Crabbing

  • Description: Take in a little exercise, sunshine and fresh air while discovering the treasures of the Chesapeake Bay!  A fishing license is required by law for persons ages 16 and up, and must comply with DNR regulations. All groups must provide their own equipment.
  • Cost: $50 for a 90 minute session
  • Ages and Group Size: 4th grade and up; maximum of 20 people per session

Predator Prey

  • Description: This session consists of a variety games and activities that teach about the plants, animals, and relationships which make up an ecosystem.  Students will gain an understanding of the resources animals need to survive and how they obtain them. This activity can be adapted to meet the specific educational needs of your group.
  • Cost: $125 for a 90 minute session
  • Ages and Group Size: All ages; no maximum

Owl Pellets

  • Description: Learn about owls and discover what they eat as you dissect one of their regurgitated pellets! As owls eat, they separate indigestible parts of their meal such as hair and bones which is then compressed into a pellet and later regurgitated. All of our pellets have been heat treated and sanitized. Each person will get to dissect their own pellet.
  • Cost: $125 for a 90 minute session

Astronomy

  • Description: Explore the night sky as a Camp Letts staff uses a laser to point out constellations and share the mythology behind them. This evening program is full of great stories and history that will bring new meaning to the stars of our skies. If the sky is cloudy, this program can run as a night hike for the same price and length.
  • Cost: $60 for a 45 minute session
  • Ages and Group Size: All ages; no group limit

Night Hike

  • Description: As the sun sets at Camp Letts, a different world comes alive in the forest.  Join us for a walk and learn how nocturnal animals live in darkness and the human body adapts to low light environments. This program is a great opportunity for pushing comfort levels as we spend time in the dark without flashlights.
  •  Cost: $60 for a 45 minute session
  •  Ages and Group Size: All ages; maximum 30 people. Additional instructors can be used if group is larger than 30 people

Survival Skills – Fire Building

  • Description: Learn about the three components that allow a fire to burn and the basic principles of building a successful fire.  Experiment with different starting methods and a variety of materials. This exciting and educational program is sure to bring out the inner survivor in us all.
  • Cost: $125 for a 90 minute session
  • Ages and Group Size: 2nd grade and older; Maximum 20 people

Survival Skills – Shelter Building

  • Description: During this adventurous program you will learn how to build a shelter using materials found in the forest. A Camp Letts staff will spend the beginning of the session sharing tips and tricks and then guide the group as they build their own shelters.
  • Cost: $125 for a 90 minute session
  • Ages and Group Size: 2nd grade and older; Maximum 30 people

Stand Up Paddle Boarding

  • Description: Practice your balance as you stand atop one of our paddle boards. Groups are sure to have fun as you cruise around our waterways.

More Ways to Enjoy Camp Letts

There are many ways to spend your free time at Camp Letts. A facilitator is not provided but groups are encouraged to self discover.

  • Athletics - YMCA Camp Letts has three beautiful tennis courts, a lighted basketball court and a sand volleyball pit! You can also get together for a friendly game of soccer, softball, football or frisbee on our large, scenic athletic field.
  • Hiking Trail & Fitness Loop – Our hiking trail holds the allure of nature. There are several spots that bring beautiful views of the water and woodlands. At these stops, you can clear your mind of everyday clutter and allow for peaceful downtime to refresh your spirit. The Fitness Loop offers Workout Stations along the trail with a variety of exercises at different degrees of difficulty.
  • Campfires – With 4 sites of varying sizes throughout camp, there is a spot for everyone around the fire. Bring your own s’mores for an authentic experience! We’ll set the fire with our firewood for $25 or you can embark on an adventure and collect your own wood at no cost. Will need to be booked in advance.
